FORGE
Creates
Imagination becomes media
Forge owns the generation workflow: intent, prompt and reference roles, capability selection and the provider-neutral adapter boundary.
Media chain
An artifact is made here, kept honest by technology that is not ours, and released with evidence at a boundary we do not control. Three stages, deliberately not one machine.
Creates
Imagination becomes media
Forge owns the generation workflow: intent, prompt and reference roles, capability selection and the provider-neutral adapter boundary.
Evaluates
Media may transform without losing what must persist
A stage, not a product. Lineage, protected regions and evidence are evaluated here by independent technology; CropZero may implement part of it, and no part of it belongs to Forge.
Governs
The finished artifact leaves with evidence
Forge emits a provenance handoff at the trust boundary. Enforcement, verification and policy are decided there. Forge asserts no authority beyond the payload it hands over.
A sample handoff payload. Unknowns stay unknown — nothing is inferred to look complete.
Chosen from capability metadata only. No provider endpoint is contacted.
Live calls · closed by default
No live provider is configured; every request is refused before invocation.
refused · live_calls_disabled — Live provider calls are disabled. Set FORGE_MEDIA_LIVE_CALLS=true to opt in. (provider contacted: false)
These six anchors are a working experiment, not settled product canon. They may be renamed, merged or dropped. Each anchor can hold several references; translating them for any given provider happens outside this model.
Who persists across shots: likeness, wardrobe, bearing.
Where it persists: place, architecture, era, light.
How movement persists: camera behaviour, pacing, physical logic.
How it sounds: timbre, delivery, language, musical identity.
How it is rendered: palette, grain, lensing, graphic language.
What travels with it: source lineage, sidecars, declared rights.
Metadata on a watch list. Deprecated and retired entries exist so old jobs can be flagged — they are never chosen by default, and nothing here has been exercised.
| Provider | Standing | Sunset | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| OpenAI Sora video generation | deprecated | 2026-09-24 | No Forge-canonical replacement. Any migration is an explicit human decision. |
| Google Imagen 4 family | retired | 2026-08-17 | Provider documents a successor family; treated as provider metadata only, with no hard-coded runtime migration. |
| Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash (candidate) | candidate | — | Watch-list candidate capabilities. Not wired; no live call is made from Forge in this pass. |
| Lyria 3.5 (candidate) | candidate | — | Watch-list music candidate. Metadata only. |
| Runway (candidate) | candidate | — | Watch-list candidate for start/end-frame constrained generation and scene-linear mastering with a provenance sidecar. |
| fal / H3 Max (candidate) | candidate | — | Multimodal continuity references (image/video/audio). Provider-specific reference limits are deliberately NOT encoded in the canonical capability interface; they belong to an adapter's translation layer. |
| Agentic long-video understanding (candidate, inspection) | candidate | — | Inspection capability only. Must never be treated as a renderer, even if the same vendor also renders elsewhere. |
| Photoshop / Firefly masked edit (external benchmark) | benchmark | — | External benchmark profile for MUST_PRESERVE region behaviour: pixels outside the mask are expected to survive unchanged. Reference target for QA comparison; not a dependency and not selectable. |
